Meet Local artist ken Russell
The Corner Cup Coffee is honored to showcase the art of Lindmoor Woods resident, Ken Russell. Ken's works are high quality prints of his original pencil drawings with subjects that include people, animal and objects of beauty. These prints would be an amazing addition to any personal art collection and are priced to fit most budgets.
In Ken's own words:
I am a retired teacher/administrator from Norfolk, VA. I have lived in the Lindmoor Woods neighborhood for the last 18 years. My love for the creative process goes back to my childhood when it seemed I was always drawing or creating something.
Over the years I worked in various media including: painting, sculpture, pen & ink, mixed media, stained glass, and pencil. I became a regular at the annual Ghent Arts Show in Norfolk when I was in my stained glass period. I have recently displayed locally at the ArtTucker show at the Tucker Rec Center.
My creative journey has now brought me to my most recent interest - pencil drawing. Although I have had no formal art training I enjoy the challenge of trying something new. Pencil drawing has opened a whole new world of discovery. I love how you can manipulate pencil lead from very light to very dark. Pencil drawing is som much more forgiving and easier to work with than other media. The challenge of shading, texturing, and detail are most satisfying. My subject matter ranges form the quiet beauty of nature to the deep emotions of the human face.
Ken can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or through his Etsy store.
10% of our day's sales will be donated to Lifeline
The Corner Cup Coffee is excited to host our first pet adoption event in conjunction with LifeLine Animal Project. If you are looking for a new furry family member please plan on joining us September 1, 2018 from 9am - 1pm to help support this amazing organization.
The project was founded in 2002 with a mission to end the euthanasia of the healthy and treatable dogs and cats that were living in metro Atlanta animal shelters. From the start, they have worked to provide innovative solutions and resources to help live up to their mission. In 2013, Lifeline was awarded the contracts to be the managing organization for both Fulton and DeKalb County animal services.
Lifeline cares for over 30,000 animals and performs over 10,000 spay/neuter surgeries each year. In addition to rescuing and healing dogs and cats, they also provide free vaccines and other much needed services to underserved metro Atlanta pet owners.
If you can't wait until our event to get your new family member stop by one of their local shelters.

Meet The Artist: Silvia Leyva
The Corner Cup Coffee is excited to host a meet and greet with local potter Silvia Leyva on Saturday August 25, 2017 from 1pm - 5pm. Stop by, check out the unique pottery she makes and get a little insight into what inspires her.
Below is a little bit about Silvia in her own words:
I am an engineer by trade, but I've always enjoyed working with my hands. Whether I'm doing cross-stiching, scrap-booking, jewelry making, or even pulling all the English Ivy from my back yard, I love every minute of it. I'll try anything crafty, even sewing and knitting. Those...didn't stick too well.
Several years ago, I had the opportunity to live in Tlaquepaque, Mexico where there was a local art school which had a pottery class. I fell in love! The moment I came back to the states I looked around and found a local arts center place that I now hold dear to my heart. Pottery has been the best therapy that I have ever found. Working with the clay and bonding with my classmates makes my life better. I have a short attention span and clay's versatility allows me to constantly try new things. Most of my work is done using hand building techniques like coils, textures, and marbled clay but I've also expanded to using the wheel. Most of my pieces use food safe glazes but there are few which were made using the Raku method which is not safe (white crackle or metallic pieces) so check the tag!
Recently, I've started making things with glass. Creating makes me happy! I hope you'll enjoy my pieces and that one will make your life a little happier.

At The Corner Cup Coffee one of our greatest joys is being able to support the people who support us. One of our biggest proponents from the very beginning is Robert Lutgendorf (we call him Bob). If you every want to know more about Bob's work you can find him most mornings sitting at table under his photographs. If he is here feel free to say hello, he is always game to talk about his work or photography in general.
More about Bob:
Robert started his journey in photography with a Petri Range Finder camera while in Amsterdam during the summer of 69. His passion for photography grew as he traveled to wild and remote places during a stint in the United States Coast Guard.
The beautiful places he visited while traveling the globe helped to cement his love for landscape and abstract composition with a smaller focus on street photography. Robert’s work contains both intimate and broad-scope photographs that all tell an extraordinary story about an ordinary subject or scene.
Robert plans some of his photographs in advance so he can frame them to tell the story he wants to portray with the image. However, he does admit that many of his photos are taken on-the-fly based on his unconscious attraction to a scene or situation.
The simple Petri Range Finder camera is long gone and Robert now uses a modern Sony A series camera to capture his stunning photographs and Adobe Lightroom to enhance their beauty even further.
Robert hopes that his photographs of ordinary objects and scenes will evoke an emotional response in you, the viewer.

AUGUST 15 2018 5:00pm
The Corner Cup Coffee is pleased to be hosting our first book reading. Please join us in welcoming local author Ann J. Temkin as she reads from her recent novel The Smoking Nun.
The Smoking Nun is a memoir telling a woman's conflicts over loving God, humanity, and one forbidden man. Passion, struggle, and betrayal ignite this true story lived amidst the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War.
This is a story that will have the reader asking, "Would this story be considered a story of the #metoo movement?"
